Update: So last night's conversation went very well:

Lucy: Uh.....that's wonderful news.
Well, I'm very keen on living in Beijing for a year so it's looking good. I expect another call tonight and possibly even another tomorrow evening and then things should be pretty much wrapped up. Oh, the excitement. Oh, the crap to do before leaving for a year. I'm already exhuasted. More soon. LB
